PARENT MEETINGS AND RECITAL PACKETS

Recital Parent Meetings are being held APRIL 29th- MAY 4th during your child’s class(es). We will hand out a hard copy of the recital packet and a DP staff member will go over all your child’s recital details. Please mark your calendars for this important meeting and plan to have one parent or guardian here to capture all the information. We suggest using the newsletter to write down any and all information related to your child’s class, so you are well informed and have plenty of time to plan.

ATTENDANCE

Attendance is vital in making confident dancers. Make sure your dancer attends each and every one of their classes leading up to recital, we want them to feel their absolute best when they hit the stage.

COSTUMES

Costumes will be passed out during the months of April and May.  Please be on the lookout for your child’s costume(s) and be sure to hang them up in a safe place as soon as you get them home. At the Parent Meeting (April 29th- May 4th during your child’s class time) we will clearly lay out any and all costume accessories that you will need (shoes, gloves, socks, tights, undergarments, alterations, props, etc).

TIGHTS

We require dancers to wear Balera brand tights for our recital. These tights are available through The Dance Project Bowtique. We have sizes Toddler-Adult Large available for purchase.

DRESS REHEARSAL at THE DANCE PROJECT

We will be having dress rehearsal the week of JUNE 3rd - JUNE 8th during regularly scheduled class hours at The Dance Project.  Please arrive to class that day in regular dance clothes with hair and makeup done. After a small warm up and run through, dancers will be asked to change into their costume and accessories. Please have ALL costume pieces with you at dress rehearsal, which includes: tights, undergarments, shoes, socks, shoe bows, hair accessories, gloves, any alterations, and props.

TECH REHEARSAL & PICTURE DAY at SUNRISE MOUNTAIN HIGH SCHOOL

Wednesday, June 12th

Sunrise Mountain High School

21200 N 83rd Ave, Peoria, AZ 85382

Tech Rehearsal and Pictures will be on the same day!!!  Please find your tech/picture time slot listed on the Cast List Poster.  Dancers need to arrive 15 minutes prior to their allotted rehearsal time IN COSTUME, with makeup and hair ready for pictures.  Upon arrival, dancers and parents can find a seat in the audience.  Classes will be called to stage one at a time from the audience.

Tech Rehearsal:

At this rehearsal, dancers will become familiar with the stage, entrances/exits, and dressing rooms ensuring that they are comfortable and confident for performance day. Parents will be taken on a guided tour while dancers are taking pictures, to learn where to drop off and pick up their dancing stars. Dancers, please arrive in your recital costume, hair and makeup stage ready and with all necessary accessories and dance shoes. After arriving, dancers will wait in the audience until their class is called up on stage.  If your dancer is in more than one class, there will be a dressing room backstage for them to change into their next costume after they take pictures for their previous class. Kids are welcome to pack a lunch/snacks, to hangout and make a day of it with us. Carpooling is encouraged for working parents. Rehearsal time slots are posted on our website as well as the studio bulletin board soon. Immediately after their tech rehearsal, dancers will go to take pictures.

Pictures:

Dance Pictures will immediately follow your class’s tech rehearsal. We will be using the photographer “Poof Begone” this year.  All dancers will take a class photo that will be included in the 2019 yearbook (there is no charge to be in the group photo.)  If you would like individual photos there is a $45 sitting fee that must be prepaid by June 6th.  After June 6th the fee increases to $55.  The sitting fee gives you access to 3 downloadable images.  Additional images are $12 a piece.  Dancers in several costumes may want to take advantage of purchasing your entire gallery for $155.  High Quality Prints, Canvases, and other accessories will also be available for purchase.

RECITAL DAY- SHOWTIME...YAHOO!!!

June 13th, June 14th and June 15th

Please have ONE parent/guardian check your dancer in at the “dancer drop off station” backstage one hour prior to showtime.  After checking in, your dancer will proceed to their assigned dressing room area where they will find their classmates and the designated group mom(s). There will be one or two parent volunteers assigned to each group. After dropping your dancer off, you can head to your seats to watch and enjoy from the front.
